This I Believe

By

Anna Strien

This I believe being compassionate towards a sport can make you a better person and get you closer to your dream in life. It can help you stride closer to what your goal is or help you become something you always wanted to be. It makes you learn discipline, self-respect, honor, and courage. It teaches you to work for something and practice.

As a kid I always had sports to fall back on, if I was feeling sad, mad, or just not wanting to talk to anyone I would always have sports. I’ve been through a lot in my life so I just go outside and play basketball. I’d play outside when it was below zero and I would just shoot baskets. It taught me how to work hard and to practice.

When I’m an adult all the work I put in will payoff. When I’m an adult I will understand the meaning of work. Because I’m learning that through shooting baskets till I can’t see outside anymore. My father is teaching me life lessons and is showing me you have to work, work, work, because nothing in life is handed to you. You have to work.

Look at Michael Jordan, he worked his whole life shooting baskets outside and putting years and years of effort into his dream. Look where he is now. He is a the best example of how a person can be so compassionate about a sport. Someday I want to be able to go back on how much I put in and see how much I paid off for my life. That is why I believe that being compassionate towards a sport can make you a better person and help you become a hard and committed worker.

I enjoyed this piece a lot and it was very fun to read! I think you make a good point about being compassionate towards a sport could make you better. The reason I like this piece a lot though it that it is telling the complete truth about something, if you like the sport you are doing for example you should get better at it and like it even more. This piece is great but remember to watch out for spelling errors!
